Datta Khopker
On his release from Aga Khan Palace in May 1944, Mahatma Gandhi stayed at Juhu Beach, Mumbai, for recuperation. During his stay Gandhi attended evening prayers on the beach. The young photographer Datta Khopker (1917-1996) closely observed Gandhi's daily routine and produced a set of unique photographs of Gandhi to and from the prayer meeting. Lateron Datta Khopker became a well-known professional photographer of Ahmedabad, and the founder member of Niharika, the club of Gujarat pictorialists.
