Gandhiji is in receipt of both the reports sent by Ishwarbhai Amin. Regarding water that was tested, Gandhiji found the report satisfactory. Regarding "palm-gur", Gandhiji thought that the whole difficulty is because of the summer, i.e. hot climate. He was still awaiting information from Travancore as to how they could make "palm-gur" even in hot weather. |

Real Ahimsa should be alround and not restricted merely to food. A non vegetarin may be quite non violent and a vegetrain may be quite inhuman. The jaws have made travesty of fasts. They take dried vegetables and refuse to clean teeth or take bath while doing all other things including Himsa. That is not real Ahimsa. |

Gandhiji writes to say that it is difficult to make jaggery out of Palm trees during this season. It is said that in Travancore, the weather is always damp, the atmosphere temperature never going below 80 degree farenheit. Gandhiji trying to get the detailed information from Travancore, but it will take some time. Some such chemical may be added to the palm juice so that it does not get sour. Gandhiji says that people there are trying other means but he wants Ishwarbhai to give some useful suggestions, if he has any to offer. |
